Neon Freight successfully transports 40 Ft T-Rex model from Germany to China

Life-sized model of T-Rex was shipped by our Coop member in Manchester, UK, from Germany to China

Neon Freight, a Coop member in Manchester, successfully handled the shipment of a life-sized model of T-Rex dinosaur from Germany to China. This model was first shipped from Germany to Everything Dinosaur in Marthall, Cheshire and was later transported to the Peking Natural Science Organisation (PNSO) in Beijing, China.

This was a Herculean task Neon Freight accomplished with aplomb, since the model was quite valuable and huge. They had to arrange for 40ft container for the sea freight to China.

Neon Freight is a 5 year old, privately owned logistics company in Cheshire. Ian Mallon who owns the company, has over 20 years of logistics and freight forwarding experiences . He has also been a lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University on International Trade and Logistics.

Regarding the dinosaur model transport, he said, “It’s an honour to be trusted with this unique, bespoke life-sized model worth tens of thousands of dollars. It’s so enormous; we’ve had to arrange a 40ft container to sea freight the T-Rex to China.” He continues, “I first met Mike from Everything Dinosaur at the South Cheshire Chamber of Commerce, and things have developed from there. We pride ourselves on great relationships with our customers. We are a small but efficient team, and our expertise helps our clients manage a range of goods from potato cleaners to hazardous chemicals for water treatment all over the world and now we even transport dinosaurs!”

Mike Walley, the owner of Everything Dinosaur, is quite happy with the whole project and stated, “This is a fantastic opportunity on many levels. We are privileged to be trusted by the PNSO and hope to bring more dinosaurs to Cheshire from their range of models.” Speaking about Neon Freight, Mike added, “Working with Neon Freight has been a great experience. Ian and his team have delivered an exceptional job, and we know we are safe in their hands with our extremely valued T-Rex. We hope this is the beginning of a long-term business partnership”.;

We applaud Neon Freight for their great achievement!

For shipments from/to Manchester, do not hesitate to contact them. They are looking forward to any new challenges that lay ahead!

One good turn deserves another

Neon Freight Ltd, a member of The COOP in Manchester, recently came to the rescue of a group of Cheshire Fire Cadets after a shipment of knitted hats intended for Nepalese children affected by the 2015 earthquake, was left undelivered in the UK.

The group had intended to take the hats with them for the children of Nepal, who were much in need of warm clothes, when they flew from Manchester to Kathmandu on Saturday 24 October 2015 to help finish off a much needed school in a remote village. Whilst they had packed their bags to bursting, the number far outweighed the group’s allocation.

Ian Mallon, the Managing Director of Neon Freight heard about this and offered to transport the cargo free of charge. “By chance, a good friend of mine overheard someone at the fire station wondering how to get a whole pallet of woollen goods to Nepal. We were delighted to be able to have put the final part of this puzzle together as knitting really isn’t our thing! ”

Cheshire Fire Cadets had this to say “I would like to thank Ian at Neon Freight for his help in distributing the hats for us, it’s very much appreciated. Without this assistance we would have struggled to get the hats to the children in time for when they needed them most.”.

The COOP would like to commend Ian and Neon Freight and invite members with shipments in Manchester to get in touch with the team.

Cooperating to succeed

At THE COOPERATIVE LOGISTICS NETWORK, we preach that members need to be ‘cooperating to succeed’ and today’s Friday news is a perfect example. Shortly after joining THE COOP in March 2015, UK GLOBAL LOGISTICS(Leeds-Bradford, UK), was contacted by NEON FREIGHT LTD (Manchester, UK) welcoming them to the network.

With Manchester and Leeds-Bradford less than two hours apart, Ian Mallon (Neon Freight) and James Boyce (UK Global) decided to meet up and, after a few drinks, decided to share contacts and help each other’s companies out when the opportunity occurred.

Completely by chance, James came across an opportunity to handle imports for Ebay and Amazon. “With little experience in handling pallets, I contacted Ian (20 years’ experience in importing and exporting) to see if he could help and of course we would share the profit on the jobs. The combination of my warehouse space and Ian’s knowledge was perfect for this job,” explained James.

Between the two companies, they offer Amazon and Ebay suppliers an ‘all in service’. “The overseas forwarder can appoint us as the UK importer and sit back knowing that shipments to the UK’s largest E-commerce websites will be handled without issues or rejections and, most importantly, ensures no need for a UK importer. After a slow start, two months on, the news is getting out and we are seeing a steady increase in business through this channel,” said James.

We invite all members with customers that are manufacturers of consumer goods that wish to sell to Amazon or Ebay to contact Ian and James.
